Unveiling the Impact: RGV LEAD Scholars Overview and Scholarship Opportunities

OVERVIEW


The RGV LEAD Scholars program, established and managed by the RGV LEAD Board, is a graduate recognition initiative aimed at guiding the top students in Texas towards pursuing postsecondary education within the state. Since its inception in 1999, numerous students have successfully completed the program with honors. Engaging in the RGV LEAD Scholars program motivates high school students to formulate and achieve their college and career graduation objectives.


REQUIREMENTS


In order to graduate as an RGV LEAD Scholar, a student must meet specific requirements on a regular basis, adapting as state graduation requirements evolve.


  1. Successfully finish all courses mandated by the Foundation High School Program (FHSP).

  2. Accomplish at least one endorsement utilizing a CTE pathway.

  3. Obtain an industry-based certificate or license through the chosen CTE pathway or achieve a passing grade in at least two college-level courses within the selected CTE pathway.

  4. Submit a declaration of intent to become an RGV LEAD Scholar.


RGV LEAD SCHOLARSHIP


Every academic year, RGV LEAD awards a $5,000 scholarship to the exceptional student who completed the RGV LEAD Scholar program and paved the way to further education by engaging in college- and career-oriented initiatives. This scholarship aims to motivate students to successfully finish their courses and leave high school equipped for their academic and professional endeavors.
