The RGV LEAD Annual Meeting and Superintendents Meeting video conference session was held on November 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Luis Rodriguez, RGV LEAD Executive Director, welcomed the superintendents and guests. He shared RGV LEAD’s business and education partnership initiatives.Lizzy de la Garza Putegnat, Account Executive, Schneider Electric, RGV LEAD President and Board Chair, gave the opening remarks. Albert G. Chronis, Project Manager for Noble Texas Builders, LLC, and RGV LEAD Board Director, led the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. Luis introduced the guest speaker,
Juanita Baldwin (Pictured left), the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Education and Outreach Coordinator. She, in turn, introduced Mickey Leland to the Environmental Internship Program, which shared information on summer internship possibilities. After the presentation, Baldwin, a Brownsville native, offered her perspectives on the internships available through the TCEQ.Cornelio Gonzalez, Ph.D., Executive Director of Region One Education Service Center and RGV LEAD Board member, shared his reflections on Region One’s partnership with RGV LEAD throughout the years. (pictured right)Luis shared RGV LEAD’s current status and plans for the future. Naomi Perales, Community Relations Manager for Texas Gas Service and RGV LEAD Board Vice-President, announced the results of the RGV LEAD Board elections. The December newsletter will feature information on the newly appointed board members. Lizzy de la Garza Putegnat concluded the meeting.Superintendents and their representatives were reacquainted with RGV LEAD and its role in the Rio Grande Valley.RGV LEAD is the umbrella, and the initiatives are its spokes!
