Vol. 2, Iss. 4 | December 2020
We are at the end of 2020, a year filled with uncertainty. The year kicked off with the race to the White House, but our nation and our world began witnessing another kind of battle – the COVID-19 pandemic. Back in March, schools shut down, and learning went virtual. We had no idea how long that would last! So, here we are in December, and most students are still learning from home!Who would’ve thought? Yes, the year has gone, and nobody asked if I was ready for December. That’s okay. Looking back, I see a nation that came together to vote for a new President, fight injustice, and pray for the families suffering from COVID-19 and their losses. Scientists raced to find a COVID-19 vaccine, while people old and young cherished the time spent together as a family. The nation became more united. So, if you ask me what I am ready for, I will say this: I am prepared for 2021! I look forward to seeing people in line, not to be tested for COVID-19 but to receive the vaccine. I look forward to the reign of a new President and students returning to their classrooms.I look forward to using the lessons we learned in 2020 to make this world a better place in 2021. Above all, as RGV LEAD Executive Director, I look forward to our continued partnerships! Season’s Greetings and “ready or not,” Happy New Year!
