Exploring the Environmental Impact of Texas Gas Service: What You Need to Know

Our Roots Run Deep

Texas Gas Service is the third largest natural gas distribution company in the U.S. state of Texas. It is a regulated public utility that caters to over 884,000 customers in 127 communities, with a workforce of 1,000 employees. The company manages 10,900 miles of service lines, pipelines, and other natural gas distribution assets. Texas Gas Service operates under ONE Gas, Inc.

Established in 2003, Texas Gas Service was created through the acquisition of Texas assets from ONEOK, which had purchased them from Southern Union Company.

Southern Union, founded in far-west Texas in 1929, had acquired properties in El Paso, Austin, the Rio Grande Valley and other regions now within the Texas Gas Service territory. With a legacy of over 80 years, Texas Gas Service has been providing utility services to customers across Texas. In February 2014, ONEOK separated Texas Gas Service and its two other distribution companies—Oklahoma Natural Gas Company and Kansas Gas Service—to establish ONE Gas.
