Monica began her journey with academies while teaching Spanish at McGavock High School in Metro Nashville Public Schools. She also served as the Dean of Student Activities. Monica participated in the transformation to the academy model, ultimately becoming the Academies of Nashville. She actively sought a more significant role in creating the teams and more direct contact with students throughout the journey. Ultimately, Monica returned to the classroom full-time and became a team leader for the Academy of Digital Design and Communications. She now consults for the Nashville Hub as a trainer and for Ford NGL as a Ford NGL U Products and Services Manager.
Sue HubbardFord NGL Professional Development Coach & EGUSD Program SpecialistElk Grove, CA.Sue brings a breadth of experience her background includes business marketing, entrepreneurship as well as secondary education. As a teacher in secondary education, Ms. Hubbard was an academy coordinator and Ford PAS trainer. She believes in developing the whole child, from rigorous academics to career exploration through project-based learning. Ms. Hubbard is currently working as a Program Specialist in the College and Career Options department for Elk Grove Unified School District and has been working over the last year on the Linked Learning initiative and the development of the Ford NGL Community Master Plan.
Paula ChaonFord NGL Roadmap CoachJacksonville, FL.Paula is a national advocate and coach with Ford Next Generation Learning working with progressive communities engaged in educational transformation around the career academy model.Prior to Ford, she was Citibank’s vice president of Technology Talent Development responsible for educational initiatives including Women in IT and the Future of IT which represents a talent development pipeline from middle school through college to career. Her expertise helped Citi launch two IT Career Academies and an Early College program focused on information technology and cybersecurity.As the Director for Career Education for St. Johns County School District (SJCSD) in Florida, she oversaw 16 career academies that represent the region’s high-skill, high-wage industries. Under her leadership, SJCSD was designated as a Ford Next Generation Learning Communities (NGL) and had six Career Academies designated as NCAC model academies. Prior to working in education, Paula worked as the Senior Director of Education and Workforce Development at the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce. In this capacity she was responsible for the oversight of regional Education and Workforce initiatives.Paula currently serves on the National Career Academy Coalition (NCAC) Board and is nationally certified Career Academy Evaluator for NCAC. Paula earned her Masters in Educational Leadership with North Central University
Beth GrzelakProfessional Learning Coach with Ford Next Generation LearningAnn Arbor, MI.Beth is a Professional Learning Coach with Ford Next Generation Learning, currently supporting four Powered by Ford STEAM academies in southeast Michigan and working on a variety of projects for our the network. She has 25+ years of experience in the field of K-12 education, teacher preparation, and teacher licensure.Beth began her professional work in the field of education as an 8th grade social studies and history teacher, first in Houston, Texas and then in Holt, Michigan. She then worked in the teacher education program at the University of Michigan’s School of Education, where she was appointed the director of the teacher education program prior to its significant, and nationally recognized, re-design work. In the 2014, she was selected to complete the University of Michigan’s prestigious Advanced Leadership Program.Beth is also currently a Doctoral Fellow in Educational Leadership at Eastern Michigan University.
