A Teachers’ Workshop for The Young Entrepreneurs of the RGV Challenge was held on November 17th to encourage more teachers to engage their students in this exciting year-long Entrepreneurship initiative.Thank you to Eloy Garza, Weslaco ISD, Stephanie Mendez, UTRGV Center for Innovation and Commercialization, RGV LEAD staff and RGV LEAD Board, RGV Partnership Foundation, Texas Gas Service, MVEC Electric Corp., BBVA, and Ameriprise Financial for your support. We are off to a great start!
Eloy Garza, MPS-IMC, marketing instructor at Weslaco East High School presented “Entrepreneurship – Start Your Own Busi-ness” and provided participants with the New Venture Ideation Worksheet.
Dr. Norma Salaiz, RGV LEAD Board Mem-ber and contractor, provided tips for sponsoring student teams. Salaiz has been involved with the Entrepreneurs Challenge since its inception.
Stephanie Mendez, UTRGV Center for Innovation and Commercialization, shared resources available for student teams as they prepare for this competition and additional resources awarded to the winning team.
The recipient of last year’s top award, Teresa Velez, provided a few words from a winning Entrepreneur’s perspective.
My teacher, Mr. Eloy Garza, supported and encouraged me 110% so I put in 110% effort.”
Velez formed a company called “Wize Eats.” She was a student at Weslaco East High School.
