RGV LEAD is pleased to announce updates to its RGV LEAD Scholars program. The new requirements, which will be phased in over a three-year period, reflect changes due to the Texas Education Agency’s elimination of the system of statewide articulation known as Advanced Technical Credit.
The new requirements are attached. Phase-in will be as follows:
Class of 2020:
The requirements for the Class of 2020 will remain the same as for the Class of 2019. No change for this year’s graduating seniors.
CLASS OF 2021:
The Class of 2021 will have the opportunity to choose one of these two options:
Option 1: Graduate under the requirements that were in effect for the Class of 2020.
Option 2: Graduate under the new requirements.
CLASS OF 2022:
The only option available for the Class of 2022 will be the new requirements.
Last year there were over 8,700 Scholars graduates, with over 600 of those students coming from La Joya ISD. RGV LEAD’s Scholars program has operated for over 20 years, and over a hundred thousand students have graduated with honors as college-and-career-focused Scholars graduates during that time.
