Summer 2018 marked the sixteenth year of The Academic Leadership Alliance. This initiative closes the gap between business and education. Educators participate in the business world and return to their schools with real-life workplace skills. In the last sixteen years, over 783 teachers, counselors, and administrators have partnered with local business and industry to learn current practices and essential skills. In turn, each educator has worked with at least 240 students each year. Therefore, over 187,920 future members of the workforce of the Rio Grande Valley have been the recipients of the practices and skills that the ALA Externs experienced during these sixteen summers.
A trained and skilled workforce is a critical need for businesses. The A·L·A Externships aim to improve economic prosperity and enhance the quality of life in the Rio Grande Valley.
